| 40%
of people experience
severe headaches annually.
Headache is usually
a benign symptom and
only occasionally
a manifestation of
a serious illness
such as a brain tumour
(ref 1). At least
15% of the female
population and 8%
of the male population
suffer from Migraine
type headache. The
most important issue
to resolve, when managing
headache, is to make
the distinction between
benign and more ominous
cases. Headache is
the most common pain
syndrome, which presents
to general Practitioners.
The Diagnosis of
headache is generally
made by a qualified
clinician using:
- A detailed history
of the headache,
its development
and other associated
factors
- A thorough clinical
examination
- A diagnostic
test such as a
MRI scan if needed
Vista Diagnostics
are pleased to announce
a fast
track diagnostic
programme in
conjunction with
a number of independent
specialists.
An initial consultation
and examination
by the consultant,
an immediate MRI
scan (if necessary)
and a follow up
consultation to
discuss the results
of the scan and
suggested management
of the back pain
is available as
part of the Fast
Track Diagnostic
programme.
